Vehasen Log Houses: international and innovative log house design - Innovation project with the Department of Architecture in Helsinki University of Technology
Vehasen Saha, and the Department of Architecture in Helsinki University of Technology, organise a special course of study on wood construction, for a selected group of international architects and students of architecture. The course will develop the energy efficiency and aesthetics of log constructing through an architect competition, and versatile studies. The long tradition in wood constructing education in Helsinki University of Technology has shown that the international designers have fresh and innovative ideas on wood constructing. The one-year special study programme transmits Finnish knowledge on wood to the world, and brings international views to domestic product development. Architect, Matti Kuittinen, who works as teacher in Helsinki University of Technology is of the opinion, that responding to the climate change is a global trend in design, and in this, innovative wood constructing holds a key position
Several new export countries in Europe and Asia
Vehasen Log Houses has experienced a strong development phase during last year. The company has invested in becoming internationalized, and in developing the marketing. Potential export countries have been investigated actively during the last couple of years. There are several new export countries both in Asia and in Europe. Cooperation contracts have been agreed with importers, for example, in France, Spain, Switzerland, Russia, and South-Korea.
New, international house collection has been published
Vehasen Log Houses’ completely renewed house collection will be phased in during the latter part of 2007. The new, international collection, which has received influences from both Asia and Europe, was published in September. The domestic house collection will be brought to market in November, and the models for the rear buildings will be introduced still before the end of this year.
